Packet Reordering

IP networks do not guarantee the order of packets received.

This means that packets sent may be received by the remote party in a different order than the one they were sent.

Due to the need for lower latencies in real time communications, reordering isn’t handled by the transport protocols used, but rather by the mechanisms inside RTP; making packet reordering one of the tasks handled by the Media Engine.
